We are proud to announce that Rob Procter has joined AkinovA’s Advisory Board and invested in the Company’s Series A round which was successfully closed over the last few days. Rob co-founded Securis, an independent Insurance Linked Securities (ILS) manager, in 2005. It is now one of the largest ILS managers globally with around $6bn in AUM. Rob is an industry leader in the ILS space combining (re)insurance value-chain expertise, actuarial knowledge, and capital markets experience.
At Securis, Rob served as CEO and Chief Investment Officer and was instrumental in growing the funds under management and delivering strong returns to investors. Prior to Securis, he was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, heading up their Global Insurance Research practice for 8 years. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and holds a number of non-executive directorships.
Rob’s focus will be to assist AkinovA in establishing its position as the leading platform to transfer and trade insurance-related risks. Drawing on his in-depth knowledge of the ILS and Capital Markets, Rob will assist AkinovA in driving growth and participation within the marketplace.
Rob commented that ‘the creation of AkinovA as an independent electronic marketplace that combines capital markets technology with (re)insurance expertise will fundamentally grow the market by improving the way in which insurance-related risks are transferred and traded. The team’s understanding of the need to deliver value to all market participants and work with, and not against, the industry will be key to the AkinovA success story’.
The composition of the AkinovA Advisory Board has been carefully constructed to provide AkinovA with unparalleled insights, guidance and access to different parts of the (re)insurance and capital markets. As an independent marketplace, AkinovA’s ability to access this specialist knowledge and expertise is enabling us to deliver a marketplace that provides real value to every market participant.
Rob joins the Advisory Board alongside re/insurance and capital market industry luminaries Paul Jardine (formerly XL Catlin’s Chief Experience Officer), Takeshi Doi (Chief of Cyber Risk Section, MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings), Daljitt Barn (Global Head of Cyber Risk, Tokio Marine Group), Jonny Creagh-Coen (Fidelis’s head of strategic relations), Thomas C Heise (Co-founder of the Bermuda Commodities Exchange and Clearing House), Charles N.
